Carla Bruni on The Late Show

Now the presidential election is over, I see David Letterman has no more reason to show his bias with wisecracks against women allied to conservative parties. And, in fact, this is a pretty high-profile guest. It’s pretty hard to beat the First Lady of France. And she gives some interesting insights about how she met the President and her life as Première Dame.

With the exception of Howard Dean, he tends to kiss up to those with a bit of political power to their face. Behind their backs, he lets loose. Especially on McCain and Palin.

I hate the way Dave laughs at the guests when they are talking- I have not watched the show for years. I would normally watch the Tonight Show anyway, I met Jay Leno a few times when I lived in L A the last time. Once I was riding my Honda MC and happend to pull behind Jay on his jet powered bike, it sure gives off a lot of heat!

I lost a lot of respect for Letterman with this election and no longer watch regularly. The Republican jokes outnumbered Democratic ones substantially. One group thinks of all the late-night talking heads, it was seven to one. I would put it higher for Letterman. At least Jon Stewart and some others were more balanced with their humour.
I expect jokes about the incumbent president, but I wouldn’t expect savagery when it came to the candidates, especially Gov. Palin.
We don’t get Leno here except on pay TV. He probably charges more.
That jet bike sounds cool but I wouldn’t want to be behind it!
